What is "Service by Publication"?
Service by publication requires you to run a legal notice advertisement in a newspaper of general circulation for a period of time. This method of service should only be done as a last resort. Also, it can be expensive and cause court delays. If you serve by publication, the newspaper will send you an "Affidavit of Service by Publication" to show as proof it was published in the newspaper for an appropriate amount of time.
