What is "Service by a Private Process Server"?

Service by a private process server requires you to hire and pay a certified process server to deliver the other person court papers.  Once the documents are "served" by the process server you will receive an "Affidavit of Service" showing that they handed the papers to the other person.  If they are unable to locate the individual they will return the papers to you and you will have to try another method of service.
