Court personnel are not authorized to provide sealed records to the public. Local courts and judges may have different requirements, including an informal written request or a formal motion before allowing a court customer to view sealed information. The written request of the customer may include the following:
• Sufficient information for the judge to determine whether such a record exists (e.g. purpose of the case; case number; names of individuals; dates of possible case filings; judgments or events; date of birth);
• The reasons supporting the right to view the sealed record; and
• The name, address, and phone number of the customer.
