FAQ - Garnishment

In the fall of 2024, the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) mailed letters to parents who once had an open dependency and/or severance case.

Did you receive a letter? Visit the DCS letter page for more information.

How do I stop a garnishment?

You can file a request for hearing; however, filing this request will not automatically stop a garnishment currently in effect. The request for hearing will get you before a judge within 5 business days, at which point the judge will issue a ruling on any modification to the garnishment. The garnishment will still be in effect until a decision is made by the judge.
