FAQ - Emancipation

In the fall of 2024, the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) mailed letters to parents who once had an open dependency and/or severance case.

Did you receive a letter? Visit the DCS letter page for more information.

What if my parents object to my emancipation?

If your parents or guardian object the court may send all of you to mediation where you may work out a solution. If you do not reach an agreement the judge will decide whether to emancipate you or not based on what is in your best interests.
