What are pretrial services?
Before arraignment, a Pretrial Service staff member will review a person's case file, verify their information, and may or may not interview the person arrested (depending on where they are detained). They then take the information they have found, compile a report for the court recommending if the person should or should not be released before their trial.
The information they collect is also used by the attorneys to argue to the judge about conditions of release (ie. house arrest, ankle monitoring, etc...).
Pretrial services employees are not court staff and cannot assist in offering legal help or advice to the people they meet with.
