Holidays to Consider

Holidays are a big consideration when determining parenting time; think about it from the point of view of the child.  Things to keep in mind are the traditions the child has experienced throughout their life and how altering these traditions might affect these traditions.  Children enjoy having the opportunity to have special time with each parent and extended family members.  Once you identify the holidays that apply, think about how they should be scheduled.  Does it make more sense to keep them how they have been, divide, or alternate them?

Here is a list of potential holidays that should be included in parenting time plans:

  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Rosh Hashanah
  • Yom Kippur
  • Veteran's Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Hanukah
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year's Eve
  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Halloween
  • Presidents Day
  • Passover
  • Easter
  • Mothers Day
  • Fathers Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Birthdays
